1. Three Types of Ultraviolet:

Nowadays, most of lenses are updated from the early basic Protection UV380 to the Protection UV400. Therefore, you don't need to be worried if your lenses are with the Protection UV400 standard.
● UVB:From 280 to 315 nm wavelengths. UVB is the main reason causing the sunburn, aestates or even the skin cancer. Because of this, the alphabet B in the UVB can also be represented as « Burning ». As for the impact on eyes, this radiation will only be absorbed by the surface of eyes. However, if they are exposed for a long period of time, it will still have a negative impact on the surface tissue of eyes.
● UVC:From 100 to 280 nm wavelengths. UVC has the most powerful energy and possibly harm the tissue of human body. Nevertheless, most of the UVC is absorbed and filtered by the ozone Layer, so they don't exist on the surface of earth and have no negative impact on human body.

Not only ultraviolet A but also visible lights existing in our daily life are harmful for the retinas, especially the blue-violet light (less than 455 nm wavelengths). If the eyes are exposed to the blue-violet light for a long period of time, the photoreceptor cell of retinas will easily be harmed and hardly be repaired. It will also cause age-related macular degeneration (AMD). AMD is the main reason leading to blindness nowadays. This is currently a disease, which cannot be cured.
According to the study extracts of Grindelwald Retina Laboratory in University of Zurich, the eyes exposed to the light with 408 nm wavelengths for 1-2 minutes and to the light with with 430 nm wavelengths for 25 minutes can lead to the death of photoreceptor cell in our retinas.
Longer the eye exposed to the blue-violet light, graver it hurts the eyes. Among the blue-violet lights (less than 455 nm wavelengths), they can hurt differently our eyes. The less the wavelengths are, the stronger the power is. The high-energy blue-violet light is 10 times more dangerous than the low-energy blue-violet light.
It can also be called blue-violet filter lenses. This is the new technology of third generation comprehensive eye-protection lenses after the invention of Protection UV380 and Protection UV400. It focuses more on blocking the high-energy harmful light to make up for the insufficient protection of the first and second generation, especially against the violet light. Take 1.56 aspheric blue-violet light filter as an example: according to the test report of ITRI, it has a blocking rate with 89% against the light of 410 nm wavelengths.
